About 18% of votes in by midday in French legislative elections

About 18% of eligible voters had turned out to cast their ballots for Sunday’s first round of legislative elections by midday (1100 GMT) in France. The Interior Ministry reported 18.43% having participated by that point, 0.8 percentage points fewer than at the same time of day for elections five years ago. About 48.7 million people are eligible to vote. Polls are open until 8 pm.
