Adulterated alcohol kills eight in Russia

Eight people have died in western Russia after being poisoned with adulterated alcohol, a familiar occurrence in rural areas of the country. The six men and two women were all from the village of Kondinskoye, investigators from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District said on Sunday. The victims were said to have bought the alcohol on the open market, but it had yet to be determined who the seller was. Vodka and other alcohol may only be sold with official identification numbers.
