Fiordaliza Cofil ran a strong last leg to secure gold for the Dominican Republic in the 4×400-metre mixed relay at the world athletic championships in Eugene in the US state of Oregon on Friday. Cofil clinched gold for the team who won in 3 minutes 9.82 seconds – the second-fastest time in history. She crossed the finish line just 0.08 seconds ahead of the Netherlands. World championship record medallist Allyson Felix and her US team had to settle for bronze.
