Morocco’s Soufiane el Bakkali on Monday won gold in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the athletics world championships, ending Kenya’s long success run in the event. Olympic champion el Bakkali won a tactical race in Eugene in 8 minutes 25.31 seconds, the slowest winning time in championship history, to add the gold to 2017 silver and 2019 bronze.
