EU chief warns Belarus of fresh sanctions over Polish border crisis

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned Belarus on Wednesday that fresh sanctions could follow as early as next week in retaliation to Minsk’s role in an increasingly tense build-up of migrants at EU external borders. Von der Leyen said the EU-Belarus border situation was not a migration crisis but rather “a hybrid attack,” in comments made on Twitter after a meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington.
