EU Commission backs billions in German aid for green district heating

The European Commission backed a German plan on Tuesday to invest nearly €3 billion ($3.07 billion) in a renewable energy scheme for district heating systems. The Brussels-based competition authority approved the scheme as plans to “contribute to greening” Germany’s district heating networks, EU Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.
