EU lawmakers call for Revolutionary Guard to be on terrorism list

The European Parliament adopted a non-binding resolution on Thursday calling on the bloc’s member states to adopt more sanctions on Iran. The parliament wants to add Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) and “its subsidiary forces, including the paramilitary Basij militia and the Quds Force,” to the EU terrorist list. EU lawmakers also called for sanctions on Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi. Prior to the vote in Strasbourg, Iran strongly condemned the proposal.
