EU pledges Ukraine energy support at summit aimed at deepening ties

The European Union pledged further support for Ukraine’s energy security at a summit on Tuesday, as well as signing several agreements aimed at boosting ties to Kiev. The EU was working with Ukrainian experts to boost gas delivery capacities from the bloc, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in Kiev, as an example of the help Brussels was providing. Amid tensions with Moscow, Ukraine has no longer received direct gas deliveries from Russia since 2015.
