Earlier this year, police in the German city of Hamburg found the badly mutilated corpses of two women in a flat. The ensuing trial established that a 29-year-old man had strangled his girlfriend, dismembered her body and killed his mother by stabbing her 63 times. He was found not to be criminally responsible, however, as he was severely delusional due to his paranoid schizophrenia.
