Further arrests after Rotterdam protests become ‘orgy of violence’

Following an eruption of rioting in the Dutch city of Rotterdam late on Friday, prompted by resistance to possible tougher coronavirus lockdowns, Dutch law enforcement agencies have announced that investigations and further arrests are to come. Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus spoke on Saturday of “extreme violence against the police, emergency services and firefighters” and announced a full investigation into the use of weapons by police.
