German Central Council of Jews says documenta resignation ‘too late’

The resignation of the general director of the documenta art exhibition following an anti-Semitism scandal was an “overdue step that comes much too late,” the head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany said on Sunday. Sabine Schormann stepped down from the Kassel-based documenta on Saturday after an Indonesian collective erected a large artwork deemed anti-Semitic in June, shortly after the opening of the exhibition.
