In the face of rapidly rising energy prices, there are more and more voices in the German coalition government calling for a windfall tax on oil companies. Social Democratic Party (SPD) leader Lars Klingbeil wants to tax “crisis and war winners” more heavily. It is not acceptable that the oil companies “are filling their pockets even fuller in the crisis,” Klingbeil told the newspapers of the Funke Media Group.
