German finance minister open to raising commuter subsidy

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner told dpa on Tuesday that he is open to raising a government subsidy for commuters. “Many people have to commute to work every day. Higher energy costs hit these people particularly hard,” Lindner said, adding that it was the government’s aim “to lighten the burden” of working people. “I am open to significantly raising the flat-rate subsidy for commuters from next year.
