German government urges energy saving as Russia gas supply cut by 60%

Germany’s economy minister called on citizens to reduce their energy consumption on Thursday, as Russian energy firm Gazprom began reducing the volume of gas it pumps to Europe’s biggest economy. Gazprom said supplies via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline would go down to a daily maximum of 67 million cubic metres, down from 167 million cubic metres earlier in the week, citing necessary repairs.
