La Palma ‘miracle house’ succumbs to lava, as flows reach the sea

An isolated house left standing as lava destroyed hundreds of surrounding buildings on the small Canary island of La Palma has now also been swallowed up, following days of volcanic eruption, Spanish media have reported. The volcano, in the island’s southern Cumbre Vieja mountain range, began erupting on September 19 for the first time in 50 years. Last week, pictures and videos showed lava flowing around the building in the village of El Paraiso (Paradise).
