Lava flowing from La Palma volcano reaches the sea

Lava flowing from a volcano on La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, reached the sea on Tuesday night. The Spanish Institute of Oceanography said the lava, which has a temperature of around 1,000 degrees Celsius, reached the sea on the Spanish island’s west coast at around 11 pm local time (2200 GMT) after 10 days of eruption.
