Leipzig’s Nkunku voted German Footballer of the Year

RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku has won the German Footballer of the Year award while Bayern Munich’s Lea Schüller was the best women’s player and Freiburg’s Christian Streich the best coach. The 24-year-old Frenchman Nkunku got 134 votes in the poll among sports media conducted by Kicker sports magazine and announced Sunday. He beat World Footballer of the Year Robert Lewandowski (128) who won the award the previous two seasons and has now left Bayern Munich for Barcelona.
