The Metropolitan Museum in New York is paying tribute to the US photographer Richard Avedon, who would have turned 100 on May 15, with several group portraits marking the occasion in its “Murals” exhibition. “Richard Avedon reinvented the group portrait,” the museum director Max Hollein said ahead of the exhibition’s opening in Manhattan in January. “He grew up a few blocks from the museum, and it was a constant source of inspiration.
