Nobel Physics laureate calls for ‘very fast’ action on climate

The joint winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics used the announcement of the prize on Tuesday to call attention to the problems of climate change. “It is clear that for the future generations, we have to act now in a very fast way,” said Giorgio Parisi in an interview after the announcement. Parisi won the award for his work on modelling complex systems. Clear decisions needed to be made about how to confront global warming, he said. The Nobel organizers said Parisi’s discoveries were “among the most important contributions to the theory of complex systems.”
