Putin speaks to Kazakh president, other Central Asia allies

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reached out to allies in Central Asia to discuss the deadly unrest threatening the government of Kazakhstan, the Kremlin said on Friday. Putin has spoken several times on the phone with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to the Interfax news agency. Putin has also spoken with other leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a Russian-dominated military alliance of several ex-Soviet republics.
