Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega from relegated Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld appears set to join English champions Manchester City, according to German news reports on Thursday. Kicker magazine and Sky TV said that the 29-year-old Ortega was to become back-up for first-choice Ederson at Pep Guardiola’s City on a free transfer once his contract expires on June 30. Ortega went through Bielefeld’s academy and the former under-19 international is now considered one of Germany’s best goalkeepers. He has played 237 Bundesliga and second-division games for Bielefeld.
