Streaming service Tidal introduces direct payments for musicians

The music streaming service Tidal has announced plans to give part of users’ subscription payments directly to the musicians that users listen to the most. Tiday says in November it would begin passing on up to 10 per cent of the price of the Hifi Plus plan (19.99 euros/dollars a month) as part of its new Direct Artists Payout programme. The idea is that a person’s money should go to the artist whose music they stream the most, Tiday says.
