Thailand’s Bangkok and Ayutthaya hit by severe flooding

After heavy monsoon rains in Thailand, at least 70,000 houses are underwater, especially in the central regions. So far, 30 provinces have been affected, including the historic region of Sukhothai, 400 kilometres north of Bangkok. Although the most important tourist attractions have been spared so far, tropical storm Dianmu has devastated most access roads, the Bangkok Post newspaper quoted local tour operators as saying on Thursday.
