Two dead, several injured in knife attack on German train

Police have arrested a man who launched a stabbing attack on a moving regional train in northern Germany on Wednesday, leaving two people dead and seven injured. The suspected attacker is a 33-year-old stateless Palestinian, state Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack and the police said, adding the motive was unclear. Sources in law enforcement circles told dpa the suspect had not previously attracted attention for extremist behaviour and that he may be suffering from mental illness.
