The United States denied a star-studded Jamaican team the gold in the 4x100m at the world athletic championships in Eugene, as Germany took home a surprise bronze. The US finished in 41.14 seconds in front of a delighted home crowd, 0.04 seconds ahead of a Jamaican quartet featuring 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and 200m champion Shericka Jackson. Tatjana Pinto, Alexandra Burghardt, Gina Lückenkemper and Rebekka Haase won Germany’s first medal in Eugene with 42.03 seconds.
