World champion Max Verstappen stormed to pole position for the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix ahead of veteran Fernando Alonso on a drying track on Saturday while his closest title rivals will start from far behind. Red Bull’s Verstappen clocked 1 minutes 21.299 seconds around the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on a chilly day which had seen plenty of rain earlier.
