Weikert ‘honoured’ with nomination for German Olympic chief

Leading global table tennis official Thomas Weikert is pleased to have been nominated for the presidency of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) by 14 top sports federations. “It is an honour to be nominated, especially by a lot of associations,” the 59-year-old lawyer Weikert told dpa on Tuesday. Current DOSB president Alfons Hoermann will not stand for re-election after being widely criticized for the organization’s culture under his leadership.
